AI literacy for your team

In short

AI literacy is the knowledge and understanding someone needs to use AI with judgement: knowing what a system does, what it does not do, and what the consequences of its answer are.

Since 2 February 2025 the AI Act has asked employers to work on the AI literacy of everyone who works with AI on their behalf. Since 27 July 2026 that is an obligation of means: you take measures, but no level is prescribed. That is set out in the Digital Omnibus on AI (Regulation (EU) 2026/1744). Since 2 August 2026 the national market surveillance authorities have been supervising it. The Dutch Data Protection Authority explains what falls under it. In short: your people have to understand what they are using.

What it means in practice

It is not about technology. Nobody needs to know how a model works. It is about four things that are noticeable on the shop floor straight away.

  • Knowing what is in front of you

An answer looking confident does not mean it is right. Once someone sees that, they check differently.

  • Knowing what may go in

Which data goes into a chat and which does not, and why a customer name and a case number are not the same thing.

  • Knowing when not to use it

There are decisions a person has to make. That should be an agreement, not a feeling.

  • Knowing how to check it

Putting a summary next to the original, adding an amount up, looking a source back up.

How we deliver it

On site, in a group drawn from a single role, with your own documents as practice material — pseudonymised, so without traceable customer data. People learn it faster on their own work than on another company's case study.

Afterwards your team knows not only what it may do, but why. That is the difference between a rule on paper and a rule that is followed.

What you have in hand afterwards

An overview of who took what, the agreements that apply in your company, and the examples that were practised with. With it you show which measures you have taken. That is what the AI Act asks of employers.

Every participant also receives proof of attendance listing the modules they took.

It rarely stands on its own

AI literacy is the first level of AI at work. Most companies do it together with training on the tool they already use — Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot — because the questions then come from their own work by themselves.

After the training: your own AI agents

Once your team knows what AI can and cannot do, the next question asks itself: what does nobody need to do by hand any more. An AI agent takes over a task, in your own environment, within the limit you set. The free scan shows which tasks qualify.

Frequently asked questions

Does this apply to us too, with a small team?

The obligation does not look at the size of the company but at the use. If people work with AI at your company, it applies. Even if that is one person using ChatGPT for quotes.

What do we have to be able to show?

Which measures you have taken so that the employees who work with AI understand enough about it. In practice that comes down to recording who had which training, on what, and which agreements apply in your company.

How much time does this take per employee?

The basic level is the shortest module of the programme. We decide how it is spread across roles during the scan.

We only use a free chatbot. Does that count?

Yes. It is about the use, not about the subscription. With free tools especially, it is worth agreeing what may and may not go into them.
